Quick Weathering Using PanPastels
Martin TärnrotIf you want to get some freight cars weathered quickly, this method works well. Modeler Martin Tärnrot believes the priority areas for quick weathering are painting the wheel sides, removing the glossy sides of the boxcar, adding dirt on the lower part of the boxcar sides, and adding dirt and color variance on the roof.
Working with a boxcar with orange sides, Martin demonstrates how he weathers each of these areas. For the roof and sides, he uses PanPastels, which is a one-step process and the color can be removed later if necessary. The end result of this quick weathering is a more realistic-looking boxcar.
