The Hobby of Model Railroading
C.J. RileyDescription
If you missed any of the Kanawha & Western Allegheny series hosted by Allen Keller, there are a total of nine segments you may want to check out. Throughout the series, Allen and C.J. tour the Kanawha & Western Allegheny layout and take a look at the operations. C.J. also offers a couple step-by-step tutorials on finishing models and making trees.
TJ, what in the hobby gives you the most fun? I think it's hard to pick any one item. I'm certainly more than anything, I guess a model builder. Yeah. Whatever it is, whether it's structures or cars, I get a lot of satisfaction out of starting a model and then getting it finished.
But I wouldn't limit any portions of the hobby to doing something I enjoy. There's nothing that stands out? Nothing saying that, I really get it, "I enjoy the politics of the NMRA" or enjoy building mountains, or...? I guess if I had to pick out one thing that's all the people I've met in the hobby over the last 15 years from all around the country that I continue to see and have made fairly lasting friendships. I would be very pleased if people would walk into the room and say, "I've been to West Virginia and that's what it looks like."
